The Gardens
In this section of the book 21 beautiful gardens from Owhiro Bay
to Masterton are analysed in depth as to how they have worked with the
local topography and microclimates. On this site you will find pictures
from many of them but only the analysis for the Maungaraki
garden is reproduced in full. Yes, you will have to buy the book to
see the rest!
The gardens in this book are classified into zones according to
soil and climatic conditions. These zones and the ecological
map are the same ones used by the Wellington Regional Council for
their booklet 'Wellington Regional Native Plant Guide' This maintains
consistency and a link to the use of native plants in each zone, but
also includes the use of non invasive exotic plants.
