Courtyard Garden

A design and build landscape job with this inner city Newtown Wellington garden with surrounding buildings and a large tree creating shade and a sense of enclosure. Fortunately, the site was well drained – in the recent record breaking deluge the site drained very well!

We added new brick edges to get a raised garden with good quality garden mix, and a raised macrocarpa sleeper garden for edibles. We laid pavers and pebbles, and then the client used her own plants to finish the job.

Throughout the design process we looked at what the clients wanted, what the site conditions were and what the likely budget was.

The plan below shows the layout and details for this landscape job. The plan gives a common frame of reference that client and I work towards a final plan to be implemented. The process for this plan involves:

• Client brief (1-1.5 hours)
• Measure up of the site ( 1 hour)
• Draw up a base plan to scale ( 1-2 hours)
• Add features to the plan as discussed with the client. ( 3-4 hours)
• Add final details ie plant lists and photos and specifications ( 1-2 hours)
